  Christians and conspiracy theories?

  i often have a pop at certain kinds of atheists but for a change i thought id have a pop at certain kinds of fellow christians.

  on the last christen web site i was thrown out of there was much love for the conspiratorial view of the world.

  they were mostly x witnesses who were very much still in its mind set.

  Really? Anytime two or more parties secretly collude to accomplish something illegal, immoral, or shady, it is a conspiracy. There are countless conspiracies taking place continually at different levels of government. Anytime two or more congressmen agree to vote a certain way because of political or monetary or other interests hidden to the public or coerce another to vote a certain way, it is a conspiracy.

  We know about the few that have actually come to light. My god, our entire banking/financial system is a conpiracy against the public.

  the circuit overseer ranted on and on today about how parents aren't policing the internet at home good enough.

  i guess the kids and teens are on line too much unsupervised and getting into trouble..

  There is a company, Grace Hill Media, founded by a former sitcom writer and Warner Bros publicist, that markets secular Hollywood films to churches.

  Superman Returns (2006) had a similar campaign. Any film that has a potential to be interpreted to have a message of faith is marketed this way.

  Superman has always had a messianic theme/interpretation, it was not accidental or unique to the films. Man of Steel the first time to my knowledge, that Kal is 33 years old when he presents himself to mankind, in the 78 film he was 30. There is also the 'Gethsemane' scene that I think is unique to this film as well. Both this film and the prior one featured the 'outstretched arms' imagery.

  it's a cut-and-paste of an ad for classmates.com.. what caught my eye is that the books they have in their ad are actually jw yearbooks!!

  Another visit from the elders

  so i have another visit from the elder this week.

  this time they want to speak with my wife, still a believer and myself.

  i think they want to know my position about my children attending the meetings and some other things.. while preparing myself for it i though of a challenge for the elders and my wife.

  If you want to really push the boat out, ask if the distancing from Russell is simply embarrassment of info now easily available online, first hand proof of his beliefs in pyramidology, the selling of expensive miracle wheat from the WT resulting in papers calling him a conman (the paper won a court battle after he attempted to sue), the divorce to his wife or the embarassing comparisson of him being a jellyfish in that he flirted from woman to woman, including his under age maid, hence his wife filed for divorce. Hardly a faithful, discreet, slave.

  No religious body/official in existence can get past the first one. If it could be proven, it would be known by every human on earth and fully integrated into every governmental system. All war would be outright religious in nature and we would probably have wiped ourselves out already.

  If the first could be proven, the possibility of the next two are a given, as it could be with any other religious book/organization.

  You are trying to apply logical thinking in a situation where it cannot apply. Pursuing this as a line of discussion will accomplish nothing but establish that you are an apostate.

  Weird "new world" artwork from the 2013 calendar

  my mother-in-law has a strange obsession with calendars, and orders the society's calendar each year.

  this year's calendar is especially weird.

  it features images depicting future events - in particular, the society's vision of the new world order.. i've taken the opportunity to scan some of the images for you all to check out.. please note - there are captions for each of the images, but i don't have the english language version of the calendar so i'd rather just quote the scripture used so as not to reveal which country i'm in.. .

  In the new world everyone will have present day north American sensibilities of modesty when swimming in the ocean, not that of any other culture or time period. Down to the long legged board 'shorts' being worn for men and no adult women being shown swimming, so I guess they didn't want to comment on new world women's swimsuit fashion.

  JW's in a sports bar

  so i'm 2000+ miles from home on a mission for work.

  out to lunch with three other guys from the company, in a sports bar on a sunday about 3:00-4:00 pm.

  crowded, not a roudy place, nice.

  Is it just me or did it used to be frowned upon to eat in places that had a bar? I don't remember it being a popular restaurant concept in the 70s/80s with the exception of Bennigans. Maybe this was a regional thing (I didn't grow up in a major city)...I don't remember eating in any restaurant with a bar in it until Chili's and TGIFridays were everywhere in the mid-late 90s.
